John’s Gospel: Death Leads To Life – Doug Clark

July 18, 2010 – There is a slew of misconceptions about what it means to die to yourself. When Jesus says you have to give up your life to get life he is saying that the Christian life is a life of dying to our own desire and living for his.
Week 27 – John’s Gospel Discussion Questions
Read John 12:12-36
- Why was the crowd so excited to welcome Jesus. How do you think you would have responded if you had been there?
- Verse 16. After spending so much time with Jesus, why didn’t the Disciples get who he was and what he was really about?
- Verse 25 isn’t teaching a “works salvation” but it is teaching that following Jesus is very serious business. Talk about what Jesus means by saving and losing your life.
- In what ways can we help each other “lose our lives for his sake”?

Your last several messages have really spoke to my heart and what it means to really follow after Christ and not just attend church. I would have to say “Well done good and faithful servant.” I would also like to say thank you for really doing the work the Lord has called you to perform. Thank you for speaking the truth about this Christian life and the responsibility we all have in our relationship with Christ. Thank you for loving us enough to speak the truth when the truth is not popular. Thank you for encouraging us to walk in faith and not allow ourselves to keep God on a shelf except for Sunday or when times are tough. Thank you for being bold enough to challenge us when it would be easier to just tell us what our flesh wants to hear. Thank you for being a faithful steward.
Brandon, I haven’t checked this for a few weeks. I am so glad God’s Word is speaking to you. I am grateful for your encouragement and excited about how God is using the Sermons. Thanks for sharing it with me.
