John’s Gospel: The Results of Blind, Hard, Fearful and Prideful Hearts – Doug Clark

July 25, 2010 – Many people say, “I believe in God.” But upon observation, or even through their own confession, they say “though I believe in God, he makes no real difference in my life. ” That statement is incongruous with true belief in God. Why? Because you cannot believe in God and not be moved to the action of true worship of God. If you say you believe and have no response, you don’t truly believe; you merely acknowledge God’s existence but deny His deity. Listen in to discover what the results of such a disregard were for those who denied Jesus during His earthly ministry.

- When you are asked to believe something what is it that you are being asked to do? What makes something easy or hard to believe?
- As we have talked about belief in the Book of John how are “knowledge” and “commitment” associated with one another?
- Read Verses 37-40. How can we guard ourselves against having a hardened heart?
- Read Verses 42-43. Why do we love the praise of men more than the praise of God?
- How can we help one another keep God’s thoughts about us more central and more important than man’s thoughts?
